No format. No boundaries. Just expression, fully realised.
Album A: Lemonade — Beyoncé (2016)
Album B: Blonde — Frank Ocean (2016)
Both released in 2016. Both refused to be categorised. Both arrived with no warning, no format and no interest in being convenient.
Lemonade is visual, political, deeply personal — a film, an album, a reckoning, all at once. Blonde is non-linear, anti-commercial, the sound of an artist who had earned the right to do exactly what he wanted.
The same calendar year. The two poles of what ambitious Black artistry looked like at that moment. Neither sounds like anything that came before it.
By now, you know this series. This is the one that asks the most of the room — and gives the most back.
Live Performance: between the albums a liver performance set - reimagined works from the artists' catalogues, played acoustic for the room.
What to expect: Two albums played in full. No skipping. No shuffling. A live performance in between.
