Both of these records are about longing. Not the clean, resolved kind — the kind that lives in the gap between what you feel and what you can say.

Channel Orange is interior and precise, a record about desire in all its forms, made by someone who had just decided to be honest about who he was. Because the Internet is sprawling and restless, the work of someone performing a version of himself online while quietly falling apart.

Released a year apart in the early 2010s, both albums reward the kind of listening that most environments make impossible.

That’s what this room is for.
